If the data source for your report does not contain data that supports this type of display, the Pyramid Chart widget is very unlikely to give you the desired result.<\/p>\n<p>The section below describes specific settings for the <strong>Pyramid Chart<\/strong> widget. Note that generic widget settings are described on the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/report-builder\/widget-generic-settings\/\">Widget Generic Settings<\/a> page, so if you cannot find the setting you are looking for check there too. It is good practice to design your charts to be as <a href=\"https:\/\/help.instantatlas.com\/report-builder\/web-accessibility-in-report-builder-2-0\/\">accessible<\/a> as possible.<\/p>\n<h3>Bars<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Layout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The standard layout displays the data labels (usually age groups) in an axis to the left of the bars. You can also choose to use the classic layout where the data labels are displayed in the centre between the bars.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Split data series<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Choose whether to use a center or alternate split for the data series.<\/p>\n<h3>Axis<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Y axis on both sides?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If using the standard layout you can duplicate the y axis to show on the right side as well as on the left to increase readability.<\/p>\n<h3>Text &amp; Labelling<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Data label &#8211; left\/1st<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Type the data label shown for the series displayed on the left side of the chart.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Data label &#8211; right\/2nd<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Type the data label shown for the series displayed on the left side of the chart.<\/p>\n<h2>To create a typical pyramid chart, follow these steps:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Drag the <strong>Pyramid Widget<\/strong> onto the page and adjust the size and margins as desired.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Data &amp; Settings<\/strong> panel, change the selected indicators using the <strong>Data<\/strong> tab. Select all indicator containing the age or age group values you wish to display. These should be identical for both male and female. You can choose to display total values or rates. If you have multiple dates available, you should only pick one single date which must be the same for all indicators.<\/li>\n<li>Click the <a href=\"https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/Aliases.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11912\" src=\"https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/Aliases.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"22\" height=\"20\" \/><\/a> button to change the aliases of your indicators to the labels you wish to see between the two sets of bars. Usually this would be just the age or age group such as &#8216;Age 0 &#8211; 4&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Your indicator order needs to be either sorted by sex e.g. first all age groups for male, then all for female (or vice versa) or it can be sorted by age group e.g. &#8216;Age 0 &#8211; 4&#8217; for male and then &#8216;Age 0 &#8211; 4&#8217; for female with male and female indicators alternating. If the latter is the case you would need to set <strong>Split data series <\/strong>to<strong> alternating.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>You may wish to add <strong>Grid lines<\/strong> or a <strong>X axis title<\/strong> such as &#8216;% of population&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>You may wish to change the colors of your bars using the <strong>Palette<\/strong> setting. The first color will be applied to the bars on the left and the second color will be used for the bars on the right.<\/li>\n<li>In the settings group <strong>Text &amp; Labelling <\/strong>change the<strong> Data label &#8211; left\/1st <\/strong>and <strong>Data label &#8211; right\/2nd <\/strong>to &#8216;Male&#8217; and &#8216;Female&#8217; respectively. This will replace the legend labels which otherwise show the feature name.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/StandardPyramid.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11914\" src=\"https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/StandardPyramid.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"983\" height=\"691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/StandardPyramid.png 983w, https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/StandardPyramid-300x211.png 300w, https:\/\/help.reports.esriuk.com\/report-builder\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/51\/2024\/12\/StandardPyramid-768x540.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 983px) 100vw, 983px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to use the <strong>classic<\/strong> layout, you may also wish to adjust the following settings in the settings\u00a0 group <strong>Axes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Label position (s axis): center\u00a0<\/strong> (this removes repeated labels)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Labels width: 100<\/strong> (Depending on the length and font of your labels this value could be smaller or larger.
